Left Lacunar Infarct Stroke

Scunthorpe to death

' Scunthorpe to death' tells the story of a young team that lost in 1996 after three seasons in the Second Division Eibar and had that 'sought new life' (he had already been rejected by the Royal Society in juveniles) to keep on living as a footballer.

Despite being aware that he had little choice, Alex got in touch with his agent and asked him to look for a foreign club. After two weeks, left the choice to go to Scunthorpe United, a club in the English Fourth Division (comparable to the Third English). And, without much thought, took a plane to the British Isles.

Inigo Gurruchaga, London correspondent for various media, has picked up the story of Alex Calvo-Garcia in a book that football serves as an excuse to discuss the difficulties of the road to our dreams.

Our protagonist, without speaking a word of English, was host of surreal situations. Played in the reserves even though he believed he was in the first team and was about to be fired because striker places him even though Alex was midfielder.

was alone, isolated and unable to speak with anyone. But even so, did not surrender. Continued to work and all improved when his coach found a translator to communicate with the player. From here, the life of Alex Calvo-Garcia changed dramatically.

gained weight
specific Scunthorpe, started to score goals and became one of the most loved players by fans of this industrial city east of England. His moment of glory came in 1999 when the English side's rise was played in a final against Leyton Orient which was played at the legendary Wembley Stadium.
